A day in my life as a student-musician…
Balancing college and a music career isn’t always glamorous, but it’s a journey I’m proud of. Here’s what a typical day looks like for me as a student-musician at UNC.
My mornings usually start with getting ready—organizing my room, having breakfast, and reviewing my schedule for the day. I attend classes, fit in meals, and then head back to my dorm or apartment to knock out assignments. Staying on top of schoolwork is important because, honestly, my parents expect me to make the most of my college experience.
Once I’ve checked off my academic tasks, I hit the gym for a workout to clear my head and recharge. After cleaning up, I dedicate at least 30 to 45 minutes to practicing guitar—working on songs and covers that keep my skills sharp and my creativity flowing.
Music isn’t just something I practice; it’s something I live. Occasionally, I check in with local venues in Chapel Hill and Durham to see if they have any upcoming live music opportunities. Staying connected to the local scene is key for a rising artist like me.
After a full day of classes, music, and everything in between, I wrap up by getting some rest—because the next day brings a fresh set of challenges and opportunities.
It’s a busy life, but every moment brings me closer to my goals as both a student and a musician. Balancing these two worlds takes discipline and passion, and I’m excited to keep growing in both.
